Women Mayors’ Link: Using ICTs to Mainstream Gender in Local Governance
Organization Name: Equal Opportunities for Women Foundation
[Central and Eastern Europe - Romania]

Women mayors are often elected in small impoverished rural localities where men are not interested in taking responsibility for poorly paid and hopeless positions.
Women Mayors' Link is a networking initiative among women mayors in Romania, at the local community level as well as nationally in the 11 countries of the Stability Pact coordinated by Sanse Egale pentru Femei/Equal Opportunities for Women (SEF) Foundation. Women Mayors’ Link aims to foster cooperation between women mayors and local governments and local women's networks in preparing small projects to improve the quality of life of women and children in local communities.
The main objectives of the WML and GEM evaluation were to evaluate how and to what extent ICT tools influenced the networking process at the national, regional and international levels; and the building of partnerships to foster mainstreaming of gender in local governance.
